The Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office invites you to hear from Russell Daily and Charlotte Fox of the Victorian Legal Services Board + Commissioner. 
 
In this seminar, Russell and Charlotte will consider the following:
 
  • What does ‘health and wellbeing’ mean in a legal workplace?
  • Where do ethics come into the equation?
  • What does an ethical, healthy legal workplace look like?
  • What can (and does) happen when ethics, health and wellbeing are not prioritised? 
  • What is the regulator doing to support and promote ethical behaviour, health and wellbeing in the profession?
  • What can you do to promote ethics, health and wellbeing in your workplace?

About your speakers

Russell Daily, Director, Investigations & Practitioner Services, Legal Services Board + Commissioner
Russell joined the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner in 2006. He oversees investigations and regulatory action in relation to suitability matters, trust account deficiencies, fidelity fund claims, complaints, unqualified practice, external intervention, and compliance auditing. He also acted as Board CEO and Commissioner in between the current and previous CEO. In addition to his role at the Board and Commissioner, Russell is a sessional chair of the Disciplinary Appeals Board, hearing appeals from disciplinary action taken by Department of Education and Training. Prior to joining the Board and Commissioner, Russell worked in Western Australia as a Crown Prosecutor and Practice Manager with the Director of Public Prosecutions, doing jury trials in between settling indictments, and travelling the vast state on circuit. His other roles in the last millennia include in Court Services, Crown Solicitors, Human Resources, Policy and Health.
 
Charlotte Fox, Senior Policy Officer, Legal Services Board + Commissioner
Charlotte joined the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner in 2017 as a member of the Policy and Regulation Team.  In her time at the VLSB+C Charlotte has worked on varied and diverse policy matters, with the majority of her last six months being consumed by managing the VLSB+C ‘Sexual Harassment in the Legal Profession’ project. Prior to the VLSB+C, Charlotte worked for Victoria Police and project managed the Victoria Police policy and legislation response to the VEOHRC ‘Independent Review into sex discrimination and sexual harassment, including predatory behaviour, amongst Victoria Police personnel’.  She also developed the Victoria Police framework to decrease the exploitation of children in residential care in Western Victoria. She is also a current member of the IPAA Women’s Network Advisory Committee, and joint Co-ordinator of the Melbourne Gender Network for Diversity and Inclusion Managers.  Prior to all of this Charlotte had a career in Agriculture including lobbying, national research and development, and statistical and molecular genetics consulting.
