Peter Stewart, Victorian Government Solicitor, is pleased to welcome Jacqueline Parker as Assistant Victorian Government Solicitor for Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety.

Jacqueline commenced on 12 January 2015, leading VGSO's team of specialist workplace relations lawyers.

Jacqueline joins the VGSO from Corrs Chambers Westgarth, where she was a Special Counsel practising in workplace relations and occupational health and safety.

Commenting on the appointment, Peter Stewart said 'Jacqueline brings to the VGSO outstanding skills and experience in workplace relations law including her ability to translate policy initiatives into law.  She is eminently qualified to lead our Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety team and we are very pleased that she has joined us.'

Jacqueline has worked extensively for Victorian government departments and agencies, including for the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Department of Human Services, Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board and the Victorian Workcover Authority.

Jacqueline commented 'I am delighted to be leading a team focussed on delivering expert workplace relations advice to government.'

Jacqueline has played significant roles in the development and drafting of workplace laws, including the Workplace Relations Amendment (Work Choices) Act 2005 (Cth); the Workplace Relations Amendment (Transition to Forward with Fairness) Act 2008 (Cth); the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth); and the Fair Work (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009 (Cth).

Jacqueline added 'I really enjoy dealing with the range of workplace relations issues that arise in the public sector and these experiences have given me great insight into the operation of the workplace relations regime in Victoria.'
