Laura practises in the Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety branch at the VGSO. Laura advises on a range of employment law and industrial relations matters, including matters relating to discrimination, occupational health and safety, termination of employment, return to work obligations, privacy, the interpretation of enterprise agreements and employment-related policies, and strategy for bargaining and industrial action.
Laura has particular experience in high-profile and contentious employment, industrial relations and professional disciplinary litigation in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Prior to joining the VGSO, Laura worked as an Associate in the Human Resources & Industrial Relations team of an international top-tier commercial law firm and, prior to that, Laura was an Associate in a regulatory litigation team in another international top-tier commercial law firm. Laura has advised and appeared on behalf of both blue-chip corporate clients and public sector clients.
Laura has also been an Associate at the Fair Work Commission and a Freedom of Information Officer at the Department of Justice.
During her time at top-tier commercial law firms, Laura also performed pro bono work for Justice Connect as a volunteer lawyer, predominantly for the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court Self Representation Service - Fair Work Division, where she advised and represented clients in unfair dismissal, general protections, breach of contract and discrimination matters.
