Current practice

Leonie practices at the VGSO in commercial law, specialising in drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex IP licences and commercial agreements, in addition to advising on a wide range of commercial transactions and legal issues. 



Leonie has advised and drafted service contracts for Department of Education, Department of Transport and the Country Fire Authority and has assisted native title claimants to negotiate an agreement with the State.  Leonie has previously provided policy advice to Commonwealth and State Education departments on the education of women and girls and disadvantaged students.  Since recently joining the VGSO, Leonie's work has included advising the Department of Justice and Regulation in relation to defamation and options for implementing recommendations in Victoria's response to the Commonwealth Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse.  
Prior to joining the VGSO, Leonie worked as a Senior Associate in a major IP firm, an Associate in a highly regarded mid-tier commercial firm, and was a legal intern at British Institute of International and Comparative Law. Prior to studying law, Leonie co-owned and operated an SME specialising in manufacturing.
