As a leading lawyer in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, Monika has a broad practice and advises clients including Victoria Police, Corrections Victoria, the Department of Justice, the Attorney-General and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Monika is highly experienced in relation to police civil claims, negligence claims (particularly involving novel duty of care issues), police civil claims, coronial inquests, judicial review proceedings, public interest immunity issues and matters in relation to the Wrongs Act 1958 and Open Courts Act 2013. She has had had carriage of a number of high profile matters on behalf of the State.
Prior to commencing at the VGSO in 2009, Monika worked in the litigation and banking teams at a major Australian law firm. Monika heavily participated in the firm's pro bono scheme and completed a secondment with the formerly named Public Interest law Clearing House (PILCH) (now Justice Connect).
Monika has always had an avid interest in public law and enjoys the variety, complexity and significance of the work she performs at the VGSO.
