Sophia's practice focuses on general commercial law and corporate governance. She also advises on leasing and licensing matters.
Sophia works on a broad range of procurement, corporate governance and general commercial matters. She has experience in drafting and reviewing a range of contracts and governance arrangements, including intergovernmental arrangements. Recently, Sophia prepared agreements and related documentation for the Department of Education and Training for the Accreditation of Persons to provide Special Religious Instruction.
Sophia also advises on the interpretation of legislation and statutory powers. She has specialist knowledge of the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006.
Since 2012, Sophia has formed part of a small team which advises the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council. In doing so, Sophia has gained significant expertise in corporate governance and administrative decision making. Sophia has since applied these skills in advising other public sector agencies and decision making bodies.
Sophia brings significant expertise to her work on leasing and licensing over Crown land from her previous role as Senior Commercial Services Officer at Parks Victoria.
Sophia was a member of the VGSO pro bono committee which established the VGSO's current pro bono program with Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre, and has volunteered at Brimbank since the establishment of the pro bono program. Sophia has also previously volunteered for a year at the evening drop-in service at Inner Melbourne Community Legal.
Sophia has worked with primary school children for the Moreland City Council in a number of roles, including in before and after-school care and as the Assistant Coordinator and Acting Coordinator of a School Holiday program.
