Current practice

Stuart is a commercial lawyer practising in information technology and intellectual property law.  Stuart assists clients with advice in procurement matters and by drafting and reviewing IT agreements.  He has drafted contracts for the procurement of cloud services, knowledge management systems, geographic information systems, website terms and conditions and experimental technology projects.Stuart also advises government clients on business name registration and trade mark issues in a government context, as well as on the implications of consumer law to government activities.

Experience

Stuart has experience in drafting IT contracts in a variety of commercial contexts for a range of government clients.  In addition, he has registered trade marks and argued for contentious registrations.  Stuart has also worked on copyright matters (in software and design) and registered design infringement disputes. Most recently, Stuart has been involved in large government transactions moving substantial intellectual property portfolios between agencies and Departments.

Prior to commencing legal practice, Stuart gained extensive experience in software development, in particular in eCommerce management systems and platform integrations.
