Current practice

Susan acts for the State of Victoria in both Federal and State Royal Commissions and Inquiries, including:

  • responding to compulsory notices to produce evidence;
  • representing State witnesses called to give evidence;
  • preparing submissions;
  • appearing before a Commission or Inquiry; and
  • providing advice on complex and sensitive matters.


Susan is an experienced lawyer who has practiced: in-house, for regulators and in public law firms, acting for a diverse range of government clients and statutory authorities. She has concentrated her practice primarily in litigation and dispute resolution at all jurisdictional levels from Tribunals to the Federal Court, regulation, professional discipline and administrative law. She is a skilled advisor to government, with a background in providing specialist legal and strategic advice on novel, complex and sensitive issues.

Susan has an extensive track record of securing buy-in from, collaborating with and managing challenging and competing stakeholders at high level, as well as generating and leading continuous improvement projects with organisational and cross-governmental impacts.
