Current practice

Geoff is one of a team of lawyers who assist government clients with the resolution of negligence and personal injury claims involving minors. The team was formed following the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and specialises in guiding clients to sensitively and effectively manage claims regarding those affected by institutional sexual and other abuse, using established protocols with plaintiff law firms, the Model Litigant Guidelines and Common Guiding Principles.

Geoff advises and represents a range of government clients including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Education and Training, and the Attorney-General's Office.  Geoff's practice includes personal injury claims made by former wards of the State and public interest immunity issues. 

Geoff is experienced in conducting proceedings in the Supreme Court, Country Court, Magistrates' Court and in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.


Prior to joining the VGSO, Geoff worked as Associate, to Deputy President James Constance of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. 

Following his associateship, Geoff worked as an in-house legal advisor at Comcare, in the Administrative Appeals team, before moving to private practice at Sparke Helmore, and then Moray & Agnew.  There he was involved in a variety of matters, including personal injury, public liability, medical negligence claims, and third party recovery claims by the Victorian Workcover Authority and the Traffic Accident Commission.  He recently returned from a two year sojourn in London, working for a number of top tier law firms assisting on large-scale commercial disputes.
