Current practice

Lauren's practice focuses on property and commercial advice and transactions. Lauren advises clients on a wide range of matters including drafting and negotiating contracts of sale, development agreements, adverse possession, leases and licences along with resolution of contractual issues and appropriately managing risk.


Lauren handles significant sales, acquisitions, land exchanges, adverse possession, resolution of property disputes, leases of real property and delivery of practical and concise letters of advice on a range of general property and Crown land issues on a regular basis.  Lauren has provided legal advice and drafted transaction documents on a wide range of projects for the State including education facilities, road and rail infrastructure, and affordable housing.Lauren has experience with government project work, and has advised on delegations, statutory interpretation, legislative reform, procurement, and general commercial agreements.

Lauren's recent work includes:

  • Department of Transport:  Advising the Department of Transport on the restructure of Public Transport Victoria and VicRoads into the Department of Transport, including advising in relation to interests in Crown and freehold land, roads, delegations, statutory interpretation and legislative reform.
  • Development Victoria:  Advising on a suite of land tenure rectification issues in the $290 million Revitalising Central Dandenong project relating to freehold land, Crown land, road reserves and municipal land, including advising on the status of disused road reserves and providing practical solutions.
  • VicRoads and Major Road Projects Authority:  Advising on ongoing land status for a number of categories of land within designated Level Crossing Removal Project sites.
  • Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) - Drafting and negotiating a multi-million dollar acquisition of the Jacksons Hill site, including advising on land tenure arrangements.
  • Emergency Services Infrastructure Authority (ESIA) - Drafting and negotiating a memorandum of understanding documenting the complex occupancy arrangements granting exclusive rights over a range of land for the construction of key emergency services infrastructure.

Lauren joined the VGSO as a solicitor in mid-2018. Prior to joining the VGSO, Lauren worked as a lawyer at a boutique private commercial law firm in with a diverse property and commercial practice. Lauren's client portfolio included small and medium sized property developers, off the plan and institutional purchasers, and commercial investors.

Prior to this role, Lauren has completed an internship at Native Title Services Victoria (now known as First Nations Legal & Research Services).
