Alex leads the VGSO's commercial, property and technology practices. His team of over 30 lawyers, conveyancers and support staff provides advice and support to assist the Victorian Government and its agencies to get things done - from procurement, policy making and implementation, IT, privacy, major property transactions to native title.

He is an experienced advisor, with particular experience managing relationships with regulators, resolving complex disputes or commercial negotiations and providing strategic, practical advice to key decision makers. Alex's focus is providing clear, practical advice, building effective policies, processes and systems and identifying and managing risk.

Alex joined the VGSO in 2020. Prior to this, he spent 10 years at a major commercial firm, where he acted for regulators and corporations in regulatory, competition and commercial matters. Alex also spent 8 months seconded to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, where he provided advice in relation to energy and water regulation, data collection and statutory interpretation.

Alex has appeared or instructed in all Victorian and Federal courts, as well as VCAT, the Australian Competition Tribunal and the Australian Copyright Tribunal.
